Raised by a hard-working single mom, I’ve always earned money. My first job,
at age nine, was operating industrial sewing machines. I’ve worked since
then, in every conceivable field, from childcare, house cleaning, delivering
phone books, sales jobs, landscaping and everything in between. Along the
way I earned my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, plus many more
college courses in the accounting and business management field. Currently,
I am in the behavioral health program to expand my knowledge about
spending behaviors. I am also enrolled with AFC to continue my financial skills.
As I worked my way through college, I discovered credit cards. By age twenty-two,
I had thirteen maxed-out credit cards and a car payment. In my mid-twenties,
I married a hardworking man. When the kids came, my husband and I had to watch
every penny. A savings account? A 401k? Those were options for us only if we
wanted to give up gas, or food.
Due to medical issues along the way, the medical bills piled up which turned me to
a debt consolidation agency. I was not impressed. I then turned to a bank who
told me I needed to bring in more money. There was no one to help someone like
me. I’ve always worked hard, but was never taught how to manage my money.
I decided to teach myself. I stuck my nose into every finance book I could find.
I researched, read, and did a lot of trial and error. I learned that we needed to
change our habits, practices, and mindset.
Doing that has set us on a path to financial soundness and peace of mind.
I’ve been helping others identify their money worries, and then how to solve
them. Some of those I’ve helped, earn big paychecks, others live close to the
financial edge. Whether your income is low or you’re earning six figures,
I’m confident I can help. Having money problems is embarrassing and often
leads to shame, secrecy, and deep anxiety. You are not alone. Let me help
you take control of your money without shame or judgment. Feel the peace
and the pleasure of knowing your money is in capable hands—your own.
